AMRITSAR: Promoting Sikhism and bridging cultural differences through his watches having ‘Khanda,’ a Sikh symbol with double-edged sword representing the belief in one god, as its logo on the dial and crown of his luxury range of watches has become the aim of Australian watchmaker Danny Singh

While talking to TOI over phone from Melbourne on Sunday, the second generation NRI Danny informed “I was looking for a new business venture and during one of my trip to London, I was convinced that it would be watches and then I started working on the modalities of the business,” adding that the first thing that came to his mind was the logo for his watches, about which he was unable to decide for long.

He said, in those days he was so restless in choosing brand names for his watches that he always mentally preoccupied.

“That night I found it very difficult to sleep, my mind was still preoccupied with what the logo will my watches have and in this dilemma I fell into slumber. Then I dreamt of the Golden Temple and saw the Nishan Sahib, Sikh triangular flag, with emblem of Khanda and when I woke up, I knew that there could never ever be any other symbol for my watch brand than Khanda and I integrated it with 1699 when Khalsa was born” he said.
